State Police arrest man responsible for yesterday's I-84 head-on collision

On January 2, 2019, the New York State Police from the East Fishkill barracks arrested, Christopher S. Franz, age 45, of Broomall, PA, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.
 
On January 2, 109, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Troopers responded to the eastbound Interstate 84 exit 19 off-ramp onto State Route 312 for a head-on collision.  Investigation found Franz, operating a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, drove the wrong way on the exit ramp, and struck a 2016 Toyota pickup truck containing Moises Rios Castro, age 46, of Carmel, NY, and his child passenger.  All parties were transported to Danbury Hospital for minor injuries. 

Franz was determined to be under the influence of drugs, and was subsequently arrested.

Upon release from Danbury Hospital Franz was arraigned before the town of Patterson Court, and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 bond.  Franz is next scheduled to appear before the town of Southeast Court on January 14, 2019, at 5:00 p.m.
