Puppies rescued from fire

Over 80 puppies were rescued from a fire at Puppy Love located at 37 Lake Ave Extension in Danbury last evening January 3rd. Danbury FD was dispatched to the location at approximately 8:57 pm to investigate a fire condition. Upon arrival they found a heavy fire condition in the rear of the building and activated a second alarm for assistance. They also discovered numerous civilians entering the business and rescuing the puppies inside. Over all approximately 86 puppies were saved by numerous civilians and the Danbury Firefighters who responded. The Fire Department had the fire under control in 30 minutes and the rescued puppies were brought to a nearby vacant storefront where the business owners and their veterinarian examined the animals. All were found to be in good health. The Fire Department reported that there were no injuries to any canines or humans. The Danbury Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze at this time.
