Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT DaSilva Custom Builds!
Three questions with Dione and Evelyn DaSilva, founders of DaSilva Custom Builds.
Why did you start your business?
I’ve been working for over 10 years as a carpenter and my wife Evelyn works in the law field. She took on the business marketing and management portion of the business, which gave me the flexibility to expand our small business. I enjoy creating unique furniture pieces for my customers, seeing their faces when the project they envisioned is complete.
When you step into someone's home, flooring is one of the first things you see, house maintenance can be expensive. We are very proud to provide fair prices, quality work, and of course meeting new people in our community.
What is your best-selling product/service?
We sell customized wood flooring vents, which are a popular seller for us because when you purchase from a big company it takes time to build and ship from a warehouse. As you may know, Fairfield County has many small construction/hardwood flooring businesses that need custom flooring vents, locally we are able to provide custom vents in a short period of time and connect with other small business owners, which is a plus!
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Our business is closely involved with material suppliers who are also small business owners such as King Flooring Suppliers and Big Flooring Supplies.
HamletHub thanks Fairfield County Bank for making our Why Small Businesses Matter series possible!
