Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Taste of Sin!

Four questions with Teyonda, founder of Taste of Sin.

Why did you start your business?

I started Taste of Sin due to my love for creating beautiful things and my love for socialization. I wanted to open a business for years, but didn't know exactly what kind of business it should be.

I remember going for a job interview and they asked that oh-so-famous question: "Where do you see yourself in five years?" and I would always respond "I see myself firing my boss"  and there would always be a look of confusion as to what I meant by that! I would kindly say, "What I meant by firing my boss was that I plan on successfully working for myself." The employer respected that answer and of course, I got the job (but I've always seen more for myself).

When I started Taste of Sin I wanted to create a business where people can get the majority (if not all) of their event needs fully met without having to go crazy trying to find people. Taste of Sin offers Mobile Bartending Catering and Event Planning Services. We have a liquor license. This makes us stand out because we can provide the alcohol. We go above and beyond to make sure our clients are satisfied.

What is your best-selling product/service?

It's very hard to say what our best selling product or service is because we offer so many things. If I had to pick something then I would say it's a toss-up between the Mobile Bartending and the Event Planning Services.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Taste of Sin reimagined would open several locations so that I would be able to not only hire, but train individuals with intellectual disabilities on how to work in these fields. All services provided by Taste of Sin encourage money management self-independence and most important socialization.
