Three questions with Alejandro Hernandez, C.E.O of H&S Prototyping.
Why did you start your business?
I started my own company because I always wanted a business ever since I was young and I tried lots of different businesses. I have failed at a lot of them. But through the years I acquired a few skills especially when it comes to welding. I have over 12 certifications. I’ve worked on the largest ships in the world and some of the smallest vessels in the United States, however, my passion for motorcycles, bicycles, electric bikes, and art combined with the knowledge that I acquired from fabricating and welding, lead me into what I'm doing today; a combination of building custom electric, and motorized bikes to welding on aluminum vessels.
What is your best-selling product/service?
My best-selling product is the custom batteries that I built for electric bikes specifically 21700 lithium batteries, the same batteries that are in a model three Tesla.
Have you 'reimagined' your small business?
Yes, I have reimagined my small business to be more supportive of vessels that need fabrication or repair in the marine industry. The batteries that I build, and the custom bikes that I build are so new that people are very apprehensive. I see that taking longer to move forward, than the welding part of the business.
