There hasn't been this much excitement since anyone can remember about new ownership of the Brookfield Market, once known for its quality butcher shop. Now the new owners, a father-son team of John M. and John H. O'Donovan are pleased to announce the familiar market will be back better than ever.
"We'll have the square sirloin burgers and anything else people want to suggest at the meat counter, plus a full-service deli and specialty items," said the senior Mr. O'Donovan.
Joe Choniski, is the new Deli Chef and Joe Zanno is the Market Manager. Zanno is retired from the Port Chester, N.Y. U.S. Post Office. The liquor store will be named J & J Liquors (after John M. and John H. O'Donovan).
Meanwhile, other family members helping to get the store ready are daughters Meaghan, a 2012 UCONN grad in Communications and Alysa, a BHS grad headed to Sacret Heart in the fall. John M.'s wife, Cindy, is a teacher at Prince of Peace. Son, John recently completed a tour to Afghanistan as a Sergeant in the Army Infantry. They have lived in Brookfield for 18 years, near the historic Iron Works District where the store is located.
O'Donovan's Brookfield Market is located at 277 Whisconier Rd. in Brookfield
