Cadigan Park & Town Beach improvements unveiled

On June 26th, the Selectmen held a well-attended Public Hearing to present the Parks Revitalization Program featuring proposed improvements to Cadigan Park and our Town Beach. (The PowerPoint presentation from the Public Hearing may be viewed here, the meeting video by clicking here.)

In response to input from residents at the Public Hearing, the Board of Selectmen recommended two additional items: the expansion of synthetic turf field surface area as well as increased safety measures for the crosswalk utilized by Town Beach patrons.

In July, the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance approved the expenditure for the Parks Revitalization Program. At a Special Town Meeting on July 18th the date of Tuesday, September 17, 2013 was selected for a town-wide referendum.

Residents will vote on the appropriation of $5,300,000 with a maximum net cost of $4,550,000 to fund the Parks Revitalization Program in its entirety. A state grant of $750,000 already approved for the proposed building at the Town Beach is responsible for the reduction in net cost.

Any questions regarding this project may be directed to the First Selectman's office by e-mail or by calling 203-775-7301.
