   St. Joseph Catholic Academy Celebrates Educating for the Future

St. Joseph Catholic Academy (SJCA), is Catholic high school preparatory school located in the heart of Brookfield, opened its doors in August to over 100 families who are embracing their innovative personalized multi-age academic program. SJCA is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and serves more than 8 towns.

The school faculty will be recognized by the Foundations in Education for their dedication and professional ability to pilot a successful learning environment and adapt to an implementing a flexible, student-oriented approach that supports their multi-aged students.  

Grade 3,4 Cluster Teacher, Nancy Rubino, explains that “Personalized Blended Learning has opened our eyes to a new approach to instruction and learning. In just six months, we have seen tremendous student progress, not only academics but with students taking accountability for their own learning.” 

The Innovative Zone provides opportunities for its Pre-K through Grade 8 students to use a green screen, a 3D printer, create animated programs.  Director of Education, Pam Fallon, shares that  "Our personalized approach to learning, our outstanding classroom teachers and our diverse after-school enrichment programs help each student to grow in academics and discipleship!" 

Head of School, Mary Maloney, states that “within the past six months the use of blended learning strategies and personalized planning, student performance scores have increased an average of 15% in the past six months.”  The school reports that 87% of the K-8 students are performing at grade level or above in reading; 85% of students are at grade level or above in Language and 69% of the students are at grade level or above in Math.
