Brookfield Library Juneteenth Celebration on June 12 from 4 to 5pm featuring Abdou Sarr
Come and experience the joy and energy that Abdou Sarr’s West African dance and drumming brings, as we celebrate Juneteenth and the ending of slavery in the United States.
Abdou will talk about growing up in Senegal, West Africa. Abdou is a master teacher of the Sabaar and Djembe dances. There may be some Wolof language lessons and audience members will be invited to sing along.
In addition to dancing professionally, teaching private dance workshops, and working as a teaching artist in schools throughout New England, Abdou also teaches agility for soccer players with African Dance. Abdou makes his own dance costumes as well as costumes for other African dancers.
The program will be held on the library lawn.
Feel free to bring blankets or lawn chairs. No registration is required!
