WCSU offers admissions, financial aid info for prospective students

DANBURY, Connecticut — In March and April, high school seniors nationwide are in the final stages of narrowing down their college choices for next fall. That means campus tours, web searches and word-of-mouth will come into play in the decision-making process, as well as details about costs, financial aid and more.

At Western Connecticut State University, the first pool of applicants for next fall have already received their acceptance letters and will be welcomed to campus for a more in-depth tour; the opportunity to meet current students and faculty from the programs in which they are interested; and a chance to ask questions of academic deans, financial aid staff and more. They will experience this at WCSU Accepted Student Days on the following dates:

Saturday, March 25, for the Ancell School of Business and School of Visual & Performing Arts

Saturday, April 1, for the Macricostas School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Professional Studies

Another important milestone for incoming students is the priority deadline for the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The financial aid application became available on Oct. 1 at https://studentaid.gov. A student must be accepted to the university and have a processed and valid FAFSA on file by Wednesday, March 1, in order to meet the priority deadline and receive the best financial aid offer. More information can be found on WCSU’s Financial Aid page at www.wcsu.edu/finaid/first-time-applicants/.

With the FAFSA deadline approaching, now is the best time to apply. Incoming freshmen can apply via the CommonApp or using WCSU’s online application.

Western Connecticut State University has rolling admission, which means WCSU is continuously accepting applications and providing decisions as soon as each application review is complete, so there is still time to apply. But for Federal Student Aid, the March 1 deadline looms.
