Brookfield Town News and Updates

$950,000 CHARGE  FROM STATE ON HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT RESOLVED

Brookfield no longer owes the State over $950,000 the State was claiming the town owed for the high school renovation project. In recent legislation introduced by Clark Chapin, at the request of this office, this debt to the State was absolved. While we had been able to recreate a large portion of the documentation the State was demanding to support the validity of the disputed expenses and given the number of years since the project  was completed, we felt it prudent to ask for assistance from Senator Chapin and Representative Steve Harding in dealing with this. This is a huge burden taken off of the taxpayers in our town.
