Due to supply chain issues, Huckleberry Hill students and faculty will not be able to move into Candlewood Lake on January 3

Candlewood Lake School Timeline Update

In a letter to Brookfield Public School families, faculty and community members Superintendent Dr. John W. Barile shared a recap of last night's BOE meeting.

During the BOE meeting, Municipal Building Committee (the “MBC”) updated the Board on the construction progress of Candlewood Lake Elementary School relative to the targeted January 3rd move-in date for the Huckleberry Hill students & staff.

Mr. Checco, the Chairman of the MBC, shared that there have been supply chain issues (especially flooring) and subsequent construction timing issues regarding the finished floors installation that will delay the transition. The Huckleberry Hill students and faculty will not be able to move into Candlewood Lake on January 3rd as we had hoped.

The opening of Candlewood Lake Elementary School should be an exciting and memorable experience for our students, families and faculty. Therefore, we have made the decision to wait until all floors and finishes in the areas we will occupy are complete.  Within the next few weeks, the town’s construction contractor, O&G, will be providing further information regarding timing and schedules. Once we have specific dates, we will update you on the new move-in date for our Huckleberry students and subsequent adjustments to the school district calendar.

Thank you for your ongoing patience.
