Brookfield First Selectman Tara Carr's July Spotlight: Congrats Grads, Bobcats Varsity Baseball Champions, CLES, Summer Fun, Volunteers Needed, and More!

CONGRATULATIONS to our Brookfield High School Class of 2023 graduates!

Although high school is over, these graduates will now begin the rest of their lives. My hope for them is to always keep an open mind and an open heart while striving to reach for their dreams.

Brookfield Bobcats Varsity Baseball team for winning the Class L South-West Championship

Speaking of dreams coming true, CONGRATULATIONS on behalf of the Town of Brookfield to the Brookfield Bobcats Varsity Baseball team for winning the Class L South-West Championship game! Their dedication and perseverance certainly paid off and Brookfield is incredibly proud of them for bringing home the Championship title. GO BOBCATS!

Candlewood Lake Elementary (CLES)

On June 14th our students were dismissed for the last time from both Center and Huckleberry Hill Elementary Schools. While this is certainly a bittersweet end of an era, we must remind ourselves that the best is yet to come. We're looking forward to the start of our next school year at Candlewood Lake Elementary (CLES) as the “Cubs.” CLES “truly is a symbol of the future” and we're blessed and excited about it. Farmers Markets, FREE summer Concerts in the Park (with food trucks), and Parks & Rec activities

Summer has arrived and that means our Farmers Markets, FREE summer Concerts in the Park (with food trucks), and Parks & Rec activities have all started up. There's so much to do in our beautiful town, be it spending time at the lakes or spending outdoor time. Please note the many areas in which improvements are being made: our pocket park is complete with landscaping and new sculptures, thanks to the Arts Commission; the replacement of the BHS track and football field is underway (and will be closed for the next 3 months); the BHS boys locker room is underway; paving at WMS will take place soon; and our playing fields and open spaces all look beautiful, as do our flowers in the Town Center District – beautifully cared for by our Parks crew. Finally - thank you to the Spring Into Summer Block Party committee for a very well-planned and executed event! It was so great to see so many volunteers, sponsors, booths, vendors, visitors, and residents! The food, fun, music, and company were bar none. Thank you one and all!

Volunteers to fill vacancies on Town boards and commissions

Our town meeting form of government runs on volunteers and our volunteers are invaluable to our community. Please help me spread the word to encourage residents to step up and participate (or volunteer yourself) as we have plenty of vacancies on boards and commissions, including the Arts Commission, the Energy Advisory Board, Inland-Wetlands, the Housing Authority, the Still River Greenway, the Water Pollution Control Authority, and the Economic Development Committee. We welcome all to participate and contribute their talent. Please reach out if you're interested. Thank you.

Happy 4th!

We are, and I hope will forever remain, the land of the free because of the brave. Happy 4th of July Brookfield! Please, always be safe, no matter where you are or what you do.
