Alexander Duffield of Brookfield Earns NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Laurels

Brookfield resident Alexander Duffield has garnered NEWMAC Academic All-Conference status.

Eleven WPI winter student-athletes garnered NEWMAC Academic All-Conference status for the third time as 20 more were also recognized for carrying a 3.5 GPA or better. Men's Swimming & Diving totaled 13 selections, followed by Women's Swimming & Diving with 12. Women's Basketball featured four selections and Men's Basketball netted a pair.

Seniors Bryant Babel, Karim Elsayed, Mike Giancola and Randy Melanson paced the men's swimmers and divers with their third nod while juniors Jack Bauer, Roberto Esquivel, Jackson Perry and Hendrick Suwirjo earned their second. Graduate student Erick Burgwardt, senior James Macfarlane and junior Jean Philippe Miralda secured their first, as did sophomores Chris Nelson and Alex Duffield.

The women saw Jenny Day, Hayley Poskus and Kaitlin Travers named for the third time as Caroline Flynn, Kelly Martin and Jenna Vandervort boasted their second nod. Senior Jessica Wey along with sophomores Sofie de Oliveira, Emma Edwardson, Jordan Myers, Sydney Seo and Leigh Whitehorn were first time honorees.

All six basketball honorees have not missed a chance to get their name on the scrolls each year they have been eligible. Seniors Ama Biney, Maura Buckley, Brittney Lambert were a perfect 3-for-3 and junior Katie Nugent earned a repeat nod for the women while senior Chris Rodgers, also 3-for-3, and sophomore Lou Doherty represented the men.
