Brookfield Resident Dr. Robert Cooper Named Chairman at Ann's Place

Cooper to Be 2018 Chair and Davidson Welcomed on Board at Ann’s Place

Dr. Robert Cooper of Brookfield, has just taken over the helm of Ann’s Place as the newly-elected Chairman and Marjorie Davidson of Ridgefield was added to the ranks of the interdisciplinary leaders who make up the Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to have both of these talented individuals in such critical roles,” said Shannon Cobb, President and CEO of Ann’s Place. “They are both deeply committed to helping ease the distress of cancer on people in our local community.”

Dr. Cooper has been a leading figure in Connecticut oncology and hematology research and clinical practice for four decades - well-respected by colleagues and beloved by patients. Dr. Cooper recently retired from clinical practice in the Western Connecticut Health Network's Danbury Hospital.

Dr. Cooper's association with Ann's Place dates back to 1987 as Chairman of the Ann Olsen Endowment and deepened in 1991 when he joined the original board of I Can, Inc. and led the resulting fully merged community-based cancer support organization, now known as Ann’s Place. As a compassionate humanitarian, Cooper has been an extraordinary champion for cancer patients and survivors and has positively impacted the clinical programs at Ann's Place.

Cooper noted that “I have been privileged to see how this organization has grown over the last 27 years and I have been amazed and humbled by the commitment of our clinical staff, volunteers, and donors to care for patients and families affected by cancer."

Marjorie Davidson served as the Sponsorship Co-chair for the 2017 Festival of Trees benefiting Ann’s Place. Under her direction, this event raised significantly more funds than the prior year. Marge brings many years of experience with nonprofit work and a commitment to community service to Ann’s Place.

On first joining the Ann’s Place Board, she stated “I greatly admire the mission and the accomplishments of the organization, and I am overwhelmed by the comfort and support Ann’s Place brings to the community. Who is not affected by cancer? Until cancer becomes a disease of the past, we all need Ann’s Place.”

Ann’s Place provides help and hope to those living with cancer and their loved ones. Their clinical social workers, facilitators and wellness experts provide a host of services aimed at improving quality of life during and after cancer. Ann’s Place relies on the generosity of donors to be able to continue providing these services free of charge.
