Gary Cohen: Voice of the New York Mets for Three Decades!

Congratulations are in order for Gary Cohen.

The Ridgefield resident wrapped up his 30th season broadcasting the New York Mets on Sunday, signing off after a weekend that included David Wright's emotional return and final series in the major leagues.

Wright's send-off was just the latest in a long line of memorable moments Cohen's brought to the viewing public. He was on the call when Todd Pratt and Benny Agbayani hit walk-off playoff homers, for Endy Chavez's memorable catch at the wall in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS and the first no-hitter in team history thrown by Johan Santana. Fans will also remember his call of cult hero Bartolo Colon's first big-league home run as a 42-year-old pitcher.

"This is one of the great moments in the history of baseball!" he exclaimed. (Watch it HERE)

Cohen began calling the Mets on WFAN radio before transitioning to the television booth in 2005 with the birth of SNY (SportsNet New York). He announced following Sunday's game that he, along with broadcast partners Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling, will return again next year.
