Golf Quest Co-Founder and Creator Larry Kwait Passes at 77

The Golf Quest family in Brookfield and Southington mourn the loss of their co-founder and creator, Larry Kwiat who passed away peacefully late Sunday after a brief illness.

Larry Kwiat 77, of Briarcliff Manor, NY loving husband, devoted father and spoiler of his grandchildren passed away on Oct. 14, 2018. Larry was born on July 30, 1941 to Ann and Bill Kwiat of Long Island where he grew up with his older brother Ken and attended Chaminade High School. He then attended The University of Notre Dame and went on to pursue a career in commercial real estate.

He married Barbara Kwiat (Britz) in 1965 and had three children, Larry, Kimberly and Patricia.  He is survived by his wife Barbara, brother Ken (Carol), son Larry (Elizabeth), grandchildren Katelynn and Ryan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. After many years with Merrill Lynch Hubbard, Larry opened Golf Quest Family Sports Center with a long-time business partner and friend.  When not at his driving ranges, his true love was time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Whether on the golf course, fishing on Blind Pond, going to football games at Notre Dame, traveling to Vermont or vacationing in Florida, family and friends always came first and he would do anything for them.  His ice cream sodas were legendary and nothing was better to him than a juicy steak and a cold beer with friends. Although Larry has departed us sooner than we would have wanted, he is now reunited in heaven with his daughters Kim and Patty.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home in Briarcliff Manor.  A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa’s Church, Briarcliff Manor with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the TWA Flight 800 Memorial at www.TWAFlight800Memorial.org.

Please note: Golf Quest Family Sports Centers in Brookfield and Southington along with Performance Clubworks Golf Shop in Brookfield will be closed on Friday, October 19, 2018 for Larry's Funeral Services.
