Memorial Service Planned for Brookfield Resident Jim Walsh

James J. Walsh, “Jim”, 73, of Brookfield, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019. He was the loving husband of Susan (Pritchard) Walsh. 
 
Mr. Walsh was born in Hartford, CT on March 2, 1946; a son of the late James and Agnes (Medved) Walsh. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from The University of Hartford. Mr. Walsh began his career working for the State of Connecticut. He then became the Deputy Director of the Meriden Community Action Agency and later the Director of Danbury Youth Services; a position he held for 32 years, until his retirement.
 
Mr. Walsh greatly enjoyed being involved in his children's baseball and softball leagues. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Danbury. Mr. Walsh is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan and their two children; Glenn Walsh and his wife, Elizabeth and Heather Jones and her husband, Ron. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; John, Thomas and Catherine Walsh and Isla and Juniper Jones as well as a brother, Dennis Walsh and his wife, Betty; a sister, Patricia Kelly and her husband, John and a Sister in Law; Helen Mecca and her husband, William.
 
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, October 4, 2019, at 12:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church; 24 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury. There will be no calling hours, interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
