Lisa Scails re-elected to Americans for the Arts’ Advisory Council

DANBURY — Members of Americans for the Arts have re-elected Lisa Scails as a member of their advisory council for Private Sector Council. Scails, the executive director of the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, will advise Americans for the Arts’ staff on developing programs and services that will build a deeper connection to the field and the network membership.

In the Private Sector Council, Scails will work with fellow arts leaders to develop and implement private-sector advocacy programs and serve as leaders to other local arts agencies seeking to connect with the private sector.

Scails joined the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut as its executive director in 2007, after devoting 15 years as a civil rights leader, entrepreneur and consultant for school systems, education centers and small businesses.

The Cultural Alliance is a nonprofit arts organization based in Danbury that works to promote, educate, and advocate for the arts to build stronger communities. Under Scails’ tenure, services available through the organization help carve a path for local business leaders and the public to access the creative community, increase quality of life and bolster the economy. The Cultural Alliance serves 10-towns in northern Fairfield and southern Litchfield counties. It is a designated regional service organization for the Office of the Arts for the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and participates in the Regional Service Arts Council Network.

“I am pleased to welcome Lisa back to our advisory council,” said Robert L. Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “Americans for the Arts strives to cultivate the next generation of arts leaders in America, and these leaders are willing to dedicate their time and expertise to work with peers across the country to shape national programs and messages and help craft services for states, communities, and local organizations. I applaud them for their valued contribution and commitment that will undoubtedly improve the state of arts in America.”

Scails will serve a two-year term, from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2021.
