Brookfield Resident Molly Coyle Signs To Run In College

Immaculate High School has a strong history of providing its students with a stellar college-preparatory education and the ability to flourish athletically.  Graduates are now playing D1, D2 and D3 sports in many colleges and universities. Today, three more Immaculate student-athletes signed to bring their talents to collegiate sports. 

Molly Coyle of Brookfield will run D1 cross country and track & field at the College of William and Mary, where she will major in business. Molly has won many accolades for her track & field skills -- for 2019, she was named All-American for the 4x1 mile run, All-New England for the 4x800 meter for indoor/outdoor track, All-State for the 4x800 meter for indoor/outdoor track, and All-SWC for winning the 600 meter and 800 meter races in the SWC competition.

She was most recently the SWC champion for the 600 meter race in the 2020 SWC Indoor Track Championship Meet. Molly was also captain of Immaculate’s SWC championship field hockey team this Fall and was named to the All-State and All-SWC teams for field hockey. A Distinguished Honors student, Molly is a member of the National English Honor Society and National Honor Society and is also involved with many other school activities such as serving as Student Council treasurer, vice president of the Special Friends Club, a board member of the Peer Leadership Club and a member of the C4Y Choir for the Diocese of Bridgeport. 

Madison Flamme of Bethel committed to Eastern Connecticut State University to play D3 softball. She will major in physical education and coaching. At Immaculate High School she played softball, was captain of the team and was named to the SWC All-Patriot Division team and also received SWC Honorable Mention for softball. Madison, who also ran indoor track, is a member of the National English Honor Society, the Peer Leadership Club, the She’s the First club and Student Council. 

Ryan McNerney of Sandy Hook will continue his successful run in D3 cross country, track and distance running for Middlebury College, where he will major in political science. Ryan is captain of both the cross country and track teams at Immaculate High School. He was a member of the Immaculate indoor track & field team that won both the Class S State and SWC Championships, and a member of the cross country team that won the Class SS State championship. He has received SWC Honorable Mention for cross country.  Ryan is also the president of the school’s National Honor Society, treasurer of the National English Honor Society, captain of the Mock Trial team and Student Council member and earned Distinguished Honors each semester. 

“Our student-athletes work very hard to excel on the fields and tracks as well as in the classroom. Their hard work and dedication to the sports they love and their education shows clearly on days like today when they sign to compete at the colleges of their choice,” said Nelson Mingachos, IHS Athletic Director.
