This is Serious, Brookfield: Coronavirus Update from First Selectman Steve Dunn

We have to make sure we are doing everything we can as a community to stop this pandemic. We are closing the Still River Greenway starting tomorrow in order to help. We need every resident to go out only if absolutely necessary and to practice social distancing at all times and to wash your hands frequently. Please do not go to our parks, do not go on the Greenway, if you go shopping, do not take your entire family with you if at all possible. Help your fellow residents, many of whom are in the most vulnerable categories, to be safe.

Please think about others when you go out and do not allow your children to congregate in large groups, attend parties or sleepovers or any other activity that will bring children together. Remember that a very large percentage of those who have the virus have no symptoms and they, unwittingly, are out and possibly spreading the virus. Treat every encounter with someone else as meeting someone with the virus. Only in doing this can we keep our community safe.

STILL RIVER GREENWAY IS CLOSING

Given the number of people using the Greenway, we have made the decision to close it. We simply have too many people using it to achieve safe social distancing. Our open spaces are still open and we encourage you, in small family groups, to go and hike Gurski Farm, Happy Landings, Burr Farm and the Brookfield Open Spaces Legacy properties.
