Carol A. Degen, 76, a certified master dog groomer at Waggin Train of Brookfield, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Danbury Hospital.
She was the wife of the late John A. Degen.

Mrs. Degen was born in Whitestone, NY, March 10, 1944, a daughter of Albert and Mary (Terlecki) Scherwenik. She first attended NY schools and in 1954 relocated to Danbury with her family. She attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1961.

She then became a dog groomer achieving the prestigious title of “National Certified Master Groomer” by displaying exceptional knowledge and skill in both the written and practical skills testing procedure by the National Dog Groomers Association of America (NDGAA).
Mrs. Degen was a member of The Baptist Church of Danbury and the National Dog Groomers Association.
She is survived by a son, William J.” Bill “Degen; a daughter, Susan C. Degen; a sister, Lorraine DeAlessio; four nieces, a nephew and grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Degen was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Scherwenik.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in The Baptist Church of Danbury, 14 Granville Ave., Danbury. Social Distancing, hand sanitizing and facial masks will be required.

Interment will follow in Bantam Cemetery, Route 202, Litchfield, CT.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
