Brookfield COVID Update: Case Data, Vaccination Process and Eligibility

COVID CASES IN BROOKFIELD

As of yesterday, Thursday the 4th of February, Brookfield remains in the Red Zone. All but 8 municipalities in Connecticut are in the Red Zone.

In the last two weeks reported we have had 122 new cases of the virus in Brookfield. That moves our rate per 100K residents to 51.3. Positivity rate for Brookfield is now 7.5%, down from 7.8% last week. Cases last week were 66, up from the 56 reported for the prior week. Our trends overall are moving in the right direction but are higher than many towns. The good news is  62.1% of our residents 75 and older have been vaccinated.

A guide for making an appointment by computer once you have received an email from VAMS is also on the town website. Click HERE.

WHO IS ELIBIBLE NEXT FOR THE VACCINE?

The Governor has said that the next eligible group to receive the vaccine will be those 65 and older and those who have underlying health problems. The State has not yet decided which underlying health problems will qualify people to receive the vaccine. We are told that the next eligible groups will be announced in the next two to three weeks.

CLINICS IN BROOKFIELD
Over 400 people have been vaccinated at Brookfield’s clinics. We have clinics set up for all of February on Thursdays and Fridays. In order for Brookfield to be eligible to receive the vaccine we have to establish our clinics before we know exactly how many doses of the vaccine we will get each week. It is quite possible that we will not be given enough vaccine for the clinics we have set up in the future. We are working very hard to obtain additional doses for those who have booked appointments in Brookfield. This is a problem across the State and most likely will not change until more vaccine becomes available.

SOME GOOD NEWS
Brookfield now has our own ice skating rink located at Williams Park. We encourage all residents to come out and give it a try. We ask that you do this safely and follow the rules listed at the rink.

Again, the phone number to call to schedule a vaccination is: 877-918-2224
