Children's Services Tails & Tales Summer Reading 2021 continues!

Paws and Claws Search & Find

Runs through August 13
Like last year we will offer a search and find poster.  There will be new daily challenges and for every visit to the poster, children may come into the Library and visit the bead table to collect a shiny bead for their necklace.  The poster will be located in the window outside the Teen Section.  It will be viewable from the outside on the patio.

Prerecorded Story Series — Tall “Tails” From Around the World

Every Monday on Facebook at 10:00 am  
Runs through August 9
Join Miss Meg on Facebook every Monday morning at 10:00 am for a recording of one or two stories featuring animals from different countries.

                  
 
Animal Yoga and Bedtime Stories with Miss Meg

Our yoga class will include sleepy time stories and a slow flow yoga program designed to relax participants before bedtime. We will also work on mindfulness and breathing exercises. Please bring your own yoga mat if possible as there are a limited number available to borrow from the Library.  This program is best for ages 3 through 8. 
Please register for one or both of the times below.
We will be OUTSIDE weather permitting.

Doggone Delicious No Bake Dog Treats Cooking Class

Grades 2 - 5  
 We will be using the Community Room to make no bake treats for the special pups in our lives.  PLEASE BE ADVISED WE WILL BE USING PEANUT BUTTER.

Aboriginal Animal Art

Using Q-tips, paint, and markers, participants will learn about Aboriginal Art techniques and create an animal from the Australian Outback.

Bring a blanket and picnic dinner or dessert and join us for a showing of the beautifully reimagined tale of The Jungle Book! We will be outside in the upper parking lot. Weather permitting.

Using yarn, constructions paper, paper plates, foam sheets, and construction paper, participants will create their own chomping shark!

Crazy About Catnip Cat Toy Construction

We will be using felt/fleece, cotton balls, and dried catnip to make a fun toy for the PURRRfectly lovely cats in our lives. PLEASE BE ADVISED WE WILL BE USING DRIED CATNIP.

Animal Embassy will bring several different live animals, and participants will learn about different animal habitats.

Summer Storytimes

Outdoor Storytimes with Miss Debbie and Miss Meg on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am

“Virtual" Storytimes run concurrently on Facebook on Wednesdays
Join us on the Library lawn for a socially-distanced storytime, weather permitting. Bring a picnic blanket or camp chairs and participants age 3 and up should wear a mask. Each family will be spaced a minimum of 6 feet apart, and registration is required due to a limit of 15 families per program. Our July themes are: Jungle Animals, Desert Animals, Ocean Animals, and Swamp/Pond Animals. Each storytime will include stories, songs, rhymes, and fingerplays for 2-5 year olds. Mondays and Wednesdays are the same program so please only register for one program to allow for more people to attend. If you cannot attend in person, tune in on Facebook; videos will also be posted on our website.
