Town of Brookfield Resinds Mask Mandate Effective 12:01 AM Saturday, Oct. 16

On October 8th, we told our residents that the case rate has fallen to 8, down from 14.3 per 100 thousand from the previous week’s report and the positivity rate has fallen to 1.8 percent, down from 3.6 percent for the prior week.

That gave us one week of numbers below our threshold of having the case rate below 10 per 100 thousand and the positivity rate below 3%. This week our case rate is 9.3 per 100 thousand and our positivity rate is 2%. These numbers mean that we have had two weeks in a row where the rates stayed below 10 per 100 thousand and the positivity rate stayed below 3%.

We will be rescinding the mask mandate, effective at 12:01 AM Saturday (this evening) for all indoor public spaces in Brookfield.

However, this lifting of the mask mandate does not change the other rules that the Governor has put in place. Namely, if you are unvaccinated you must still wear a mask in all indoor public places and the rules for masking in our schools has not changed.

Additionally, the government has announced approval of the use of the Moderna vaccine for booster shots. We will be setting up clinics for residents to obtain a booster shot and will announce the details of the clinics in the next few days. This will include the town working with our school system to have our children vaccinated when and if that is approved.

We will continue to monitor this going forward and we wish to thank all of our residents once again for their assistance in keeping Brookfield safe.
