Brookfield Public Schools New Assistant Superintendent Letter to Community

On the heels of completing her first few weeks in the position of assistant superintendent of schools at Brookfield Public Schools, Anna Mahon shares her thoughts with the Brookfield community and looks forward to the upcoming school year with much enthusiasm.

Please read her note below.

Dear Members of the Brookfield Community,

I write this letter of introduction after having completed my first few weeks in the position of assistant superintendent of schools. The Brookfield Public School System has a legacy of educators, support staff, and administrators who strive every day to inspire, challenge and prepare all students to live meaningful and productive lives, as stated in the BPS District Mission. Over the past few weeks, I have seen this legacy in action and have received a warm, enthusiastic welcome. I am very excited to get to work.

I bring with me twenty five years of experience, most of which was spent at Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge. Throughout my professional career I have served as a high school English teacher, department chair, associate principal and, most recently, principal of Amity. I am a passionate educational leader who is committed to supporting educators and keeping students and their success at the center of every decision.

This upcoming school year will bring with it many opportunities, most especially the opportunity for all of us to reset after the past few years of working and living through the COVID-19 pandemic. While the pandemic brought major disruptions, difficulties, and heartache, it has also offered us the opportunity to be more appreciative of the resources we have within our community. I know Brookfield is highly focused on enhancing quality education and I am thrilled to be a part of that work.

Over the next year, I will continue to get to know this community and work to enhance many of the important traditions that have been integral to the success of Brookfield Public Schools. Initiatives, such as RULER, help create a throughline of experience for students. A refocus on foundational scholastic experiences combined with adapting these types of initiatives to the needs of the Brookfield community will help us create our tomorrow. Together we will create the environment where our students can become critical and creative thinkers, communicators, collaborators, and change makers. I am truly looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year. Have a wonderful rest of the summer!

Sincerely,

Anna Mahon, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent at Brookfield Public Schools
