Brookfield Film Festival Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Brookfield Arts Commission (BAC) and the Friends of the Arts of Brookfield, Inc. (FOA) celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Brookfield Film Festival, Shorts and to the Point, by hosting three screenings of selected shorts at the Brookfield Theatre for the Arts. Show dates are Friday, April 6 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, April 8 at 3:00 PM.

Seating in the Brookfield Theatre located at 184 Whisconier Road in Brookfield is limited, and reservations are recommended. To make reservations, please email bacreservations@gmail.com or call Vicki Henninger at 203-740-2034.

Admission is $15 (suggested donation) and includes a complimentary glass of wine, light refreshments and desserts. Donations to the film festival allow the BAC, through the FOA, to fund a variety of activities presenting and supporting the arts in our community including awarding scholarships to Brookfield students pursuing educational training and careers in the arts.

Brookfield Theatre for the Arts is happy to welcome the Brookfield Film Festival. According to President, Lou Okell, “This is a great opportunity to support Brookfield students and arts in our community through this important cultural and fundraising event.”

Catherine Malek, BAC Chairman, adds, “Collectively our commission has viewed countless shorts. I am excited about the thought-provoking and entertaining films we have chosen. Come celebrate our 10th Anniversary with us!”

One of this year’s featured shorts is the Connecticut based “Blind Sushi” directed by Eric Heimbold. The film follows a blind travel writer, Ryan Knighton, who goes foraging and diving with the world’s first sustainable sushi chef, Bun Lai of Miya’s Sushi in New Haven, CT, in search of enlightenment and a new way of looking at the world.

The BAC would like to thank Chick-fil-A of Brookfield, Pancho’s and Gringo’s and Stew Leonard’s for their generous donations in support of our event.
