Brookfield's SJCA Celebrates Catholic Schools Week

St. Joseph Catholic Academy celebrated its first Catholic Schools’ Week since its transition to a new multi-age, personalized academic program.  Director of Education, Pam Fallon, exclaims that “As we begin our second semester, this Catholic Schools’ Week allowed us to celebrate our faith with fun, family and service!”

The school launched the week with an Open House for prospective families and a Spirit Pep Rally that included racing pigs in the school gym.  In addition to highlighting student community service and academic achievements, students were recognized for their school spirit and teachers were recognized for the measurably successful PK-8 academic program.  Since the beginning of the year, student standard achievement scores have increased by an average of 15% and are comparatively 30% above the Connecticut 2017-18 AY reading reported scores and 23% above the Connecticut 2017-18 reported math scores.

“We attribute the remarkable increase in student academic achievement to the ability of our teachers to define and implement an increased differentiated learning program that personalizes and scaffolds instruction for each individual student.  Integrating a blended learning approach has increased student confidence and leadership skills,” says Head of School Mary Maloney.

Student Annie Rodstrom shares that“Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy has been like a second home to me.  I haven’t been here long, but I love it so much.  I’ve learned so much about my faith and my education that I’m extremely grateful.

Student Shaun McKenna states “The ability to have a Catholic education is a gift from God. Having a Catholic education isn’t just having faith at the cornerstone but it is having humble and trustworthy friends. In this environment, it is easy to make friends and to fit in.”

Saint Joseph Catholic Academy provides a safe, nurturing, and spiritual environment where students achieve academic excellence through diversified learning. With Christ as the cornerstone, students experience an education founded on core values. In collaboration with parents and community, students become life-long learners, develop technological skills, and strive toward a life of faith.
