Regional YMCA of Western CT Reopens Brookfield Branch on June 22

A staged reopening to begin with wellness center, indoor & outdoor pools, limited group fitness classes, personal and small group training & summer camp.

After closing its facilities on March 13, 2020 due to [safety concerns/Governor Lamont’s stay-at-home order] surrounding the spread of COVID-19, the Regional YMCA of Western CT will reopen its Brookfield Branch on June 22nd. The reopening will be conducted under the guidance of state and local health authorities and will take place in stages.

“The Regional YMCA of Western CT has served the Brookfield/Danbury community for more than 49 years, during which we have made it through many challenging times together, none perhaps as impactful for our community and our Y as this COVID crisis,” said Marie Miszewski, CEO, The Regional YMCA of Western CT. “We are thrilled to begin reopening our facilities, welcoming back our members and the community, and getting back to what we do best – helping everyone reach their full potential.”

In preparation for reopening facilities, The Regional YMCA of Western CT has been following guidelines from the CDC & state and local authorities to ensure all aspects of our facilities are cleaned and sanitized to meet the highest standards for hygiene and safety. The Y has also modified policies and programs to facilitate safe social/physical distancing practices.

“When we closed our facilities in March, we did so to protect the health and well-being of all our staff, volunteers, members and participants. As we now reopen our facilities, we do so with that same commitment to keeping everyone who enters our doors safe,” said Miszewski.

According to Miszewski, the first stage of reopening will include:opening the Wellness Center (cardio, strength and free weights), the indoor & outdoor pools, limited group fitness classes, personal and small group training & summer camp. The Regional YMCA of Western CT will be operating on limited hours from Monday and Wednesday 6:00am-12:00pm then 4:00pm-7:00pm, Tuesday and Thursday: 8:00am- 4:00pm, Friday: 6:00am- 12:00pm, Saturday and Sunday: 8:00am-12:00pm. The Youth Development & Aquatic Center (outdoor pool) will be operating on limited hours from Monday through Friday: 5:00am-6:45am, and 5:00pm-

8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday: 6:00am-5:00pm. To utilize the facility or pools, members will need to register via their online account prior to their visit. No guests will be allowed at this time.

More information about upcoming stages will be made available on the Y’s website and be sent out via email communication: www.regionalymca.org

“We are so excited to reopen our facilities to our community. More importantly, however, our Y has always been more than a building. Our Y is about people – people from all backgrounds and walks of life who come together to improve their lives, nurture their families and strengthen their community,” said Miszewski. “We are so incredibly grateful to the people who have stood by us throughout these challenging times. You were here for your community when it needed it most, and we remain here for you.”
