The Brookfield Library Ignites a Love for Libraries

In a building full of stories, your story is one of the most important. Join The Brookfield Library in celebrating National Library Lovers’ Month by sharing your library story and having a chance to win a prize! Take this opportunity to help your local library by sharing how much you love your library. How has The Brookfield Library enriched your life? What are some of your fondest memories at The Brookfield Library? What does your dream library look like? Like the New York Times illustration, do you have a picture in your head of what your perfect library would look like? This campaign of collecting stories will continue for seven weeks: February 1 through March 19, 2021.

Celebrate National Library Lovers’ Month with The Brookfield Library by participating in their 16th Annual Teddy Bear Sleepover on February 5th and  Take Your Child To The Library Day on February 6th, to be celebrated virtually. “The Teddy Bear Sleepover is a beloved program that has been hosted by The Brookfield Library for over 15 years. This year, like everything else, this program will look different but our children’s staff has come up with an incredibly innovative version and we are very excited to roll it out”, said Library Director, Yvonne Cech.

Former Brookfield resident, Abby DeRochie, a library lover and owner of the bookstagram account @alwaysanotherchapter, is an avid reader and loves visiting The Brookfield Library. Abby got her inspiration to create a bookstagram account by browsing the shelves of The Brookfield Library. “The Brookfield Library has always inspired me to read more and to read a variety of genres. My love for reading and the access to my favorite library made it an easy decision to start a bookstagram account. Access to the Library allows me and others to satisfy our desire to read constantly!”, said Abby DeRochie.

The Brookfield Library wants to hear from you. Send them your library story by March 19, 2021, for a chance to win a canvas tote bag, with a car magnet, and a gift card to Byrd’s Books. There are two ways to share your story.  You can fill out the Google Form where you can include a photo or short video (under one minute) alongside your Brookfield Library story.  You can also fill out a notecard, available on the Curbside Pickup table. If you have any questions, you can contact The Brookfield Library by calling 203-775-6241 or emailing socialmedia@brookfieldlibrary.org.

National Library Lovers’ Month is a month-long celebration where everyone has a dedicated time to show support for their local public or school library. While public libraries are books at their core, they are so much more. Here are some ways to show support for your library

A bookstagram account is a place on Instagram where the account owner can share reviews, opinions, and talk about all things books with other book lovers.

For more information on how to share your library story, visit The Brookfield Library’s website.

The Brookfield Library is the municipal public library in the Town of Brookfield, CT.

If you would like more information about this program, please contact Ruthie Quattro, Library Assistant, at 203-775-6241, or email socialmedia@brookfieldlibrary.org
