October News from The Brookfield Library

On Saturday, October 7th, we're hosting an Escape Room Team Challenge for adults, where two teams will compete to see who can escape first.

On Tuesday, October 10th, teens and adults are invited to a scary-themed poetry workshop: Ghost Lines with local author Ryan Meyer. Hear Ryan’s poems and learn to write your own. We'll also have the first meeting of our Ukulele Club! Learn the basics and support your fellow musicians. Bring your uke or use one of ours.

Teens are invited every Wednesday in October to the Dungeons and Dragons Haunted Manor, an original adventure sure to send shivers up your spine.

On Friday the 13th, don’t miss out on our Sunset Cinema, where we'll be watching the original Ghostbusters movie! Bring your dinner, chairs, and blankets, or grab a snack or dinner from the JJ Stacks Food Truck!

On Tuesday, October 31st, our Storytime Adventures will be all about Halloween. Costumes are encouraged for all!

Finally, October is Friends of the Library Appreciation Month. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful Friends group. They work hard to provide us with funding that helps us with programming and events. The Friends recently purchased the ukuleles that allowed us to start the above-mentioned Ukulele Club. They are the best Friends group in the world!

The Brookfield Library will be closed on Monday, October 9th for Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day.

While the building is closed, you can access our catalog and digital materials online.

On View at The Brookfield Art Gallery

Land and Sea Melodies by Beth Carlson is on display in the Community Room until October 26th. Beth’s paintings are inspired by local Northwestern Connecticut landscapes like Lake Waramaug.

The Brookfield Library has two new staff members it would like to welcome:

Kristen Boisvert, as Library Program and Social Media Assistant. Kristen was previously the Library Marketer at Darien Library.

Debby Holland, as Head of Adult Services. Debby's last role was as a History Librarian at Bristol Public Library. Before that, she was a Technical Service Librarian at Cheshire Public Library, and an Information and Circulation Library Assistant at Easton Public Library.
We are pleased to have them both as part of our staff.
