One month ago, we learned that delays in the availability of flooring materials were going to cause a delay in the initial move-in date for the Candlewood Lake Elementary School from January 2023 until a later date. We were waiting for additional information from our construction firm, O&G, which we have received in the past few days.
O&G has reported that the building will not be completed until late May or early June. Given this information, with just a matter of weeks remaining in the school year upon its completion, we will no longer pursue a phased-in approach where the Huckleberry Hill students and staff would be moving into CLES during this school year. We have concluded that the best schedule for all involved would be to have a single move into CLES at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year.
The GOOD NEWS is we are able to stay on the original plan that the entire Pre-K through 5th Grade will be in the new school together to start the 2023-2024 school year on September 5th, right after Labor Day. This provides us with the opportunity to become one school community together, at the same time, as originally envisioned when CLES opens its doors.

The opening of our new, state-of-the-art Candlewood Lake Elementary School will be an exciting and memorable experience for our students, families and faculty. This building will be a flagship school and a tremendous source of pride for Brookfield!
Thank you for your ongoing patience. We look forward to sharing the details of the transition planning process throughout the winter and spring.
