Active Aggressor Class with Sgt. Jeffrey Osuch at The Brookfield Library

The Brookfield Library will be hosting an Active Aggressor Class with Sgt. Jeffrey Osuch on Monday, April 9th from 7:00-8:30pm.

As much as we would like to say it isn’t, across the United States, active aggressor situations are occurring far too frequently. Almost daily, sometimes more than once a day, we hear of another active aggressor-type situation happening somewhere. They’re happening in schools, shopping malls, places of employment, churches and even on the street. Sadly, these terrible acts have almost become a “norm.” Today, everyone should be asking themselves, “Am I prepared to react to an active aggressor situation, and what will I do?”

This class will give you direction and presentations on what you should do if confronted with an active shooter event. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.

Sgt. Jeffrey Osuch started his tactical training in the United States Air Force. He completed six years of service in Security Forces with a deployment to Afghanistan. He has been with the Brookfield Police for 14 years. In that time, Sgt. Osuch has worked in patrol and served on a regional SWAT team.  In 2008, he became a K9 handler and is currently working in patrol with his second dog. Besides being a civilian responsive to active shooter instructor, Sgt. Osuch is also a police instructor on K9 teams and Active Shooter Events.

Class size is limited, and registration is required for this adult class.  It is also open to interested teens and older children attending with a parent or guardian.
