Today, is a letter to Brookfield families, faculty and the community, Superintendent Dr. John W. Barile reported that this morning, the District was informed by the Brookfield Police Department, who were notified by the FBI, that there was a general, non-specific social media threat regarding schools in Connecticut.
"In response to this information, and out of an abundance of caution, the Police Department dispatched additional police presence to our schools. The Brookfield Police Department investigated this matter and determined that there was no direct threat to anyone or any school in Brookfield," said Barile who goes on to say:
-
We have been advised that there is no reason to take any additional action.
-
We are confident that it is safe to continue normal school operations.
-
We will continue to maintain a heightened level of vigilance to ensure that our schools, children and staff remain safe.
School safety remains our top priority. We will continue to partner with local authorities and school officials to ensure the safety of our school community.
We continue to be grateful for the attention and care that our local police department provides for the Brookfield Public Schools.
