Historic Walk Through Carmel Scholarship 5K

The Living History Education Foundation will award 4 Carmel High School Seniors with Scholarships of $500 each at the Courthouse from donations by the teachers of the Carmel Central School District. 

Monday, June 28, 2021 

10:00 AM Start to 12:00 PM Finish 

Start:  Tilly Foster Rail Trail Parking Lot 

Finish:  Putnam County Courthouse, Carmel,N Y

Carmel Teachers, Rob Buccheri and Keith Reilly will be leading the walking tour and giving historical facts about the Carmel area to the group of approximately 25- 30 participants.  Along the trail, speakers from the Putnam County Historian, Veterans Service Agency, Town of Kent Historical Society, and the Cornell Cooperative will be adding information at various stops along the rail trail. 

At the Putnam County Courthouse, the County Historian office will have a tent with refreshments at the finish for a talk from Don Widman from the Travel Channel.  The event is free and open to the public.  It offers a chance for the community to learn the rich history of this area.
