Happy Life Animal Rescue (HLAR) is a nonprofit, foster-based animal rescue organization. Based in Patterson, New York, HLAR serves the entire Hudson Valley and is dedicated to rescuing homeless animals who are victims of abuse & neglect, shelter overpopulation, and owner surrender. We are also committed to promoting local spay/neuter programs. HLAR partners with other rescues and humane organizations across the country to find forever homes for as many animals as possible.
As an organization that receives no local or federal funding for our work, HLAR relies solely on donations to continue to help animals in need and the costs associated with veterinary care can be overwhelming.
Puppies like Dory have come to us from transport with Canine Parvo Virus: a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus that kills infected puppies at an astonishing rate of 90%, but it can be beaten! If it is caught early enough, puppies can survive the deadly virus and lead healthy, normal lives after being adopted.
But treating Parvo is EXPENSIVE due to costly, continuous treatment and long kennel stays. Dory’s care, alone, has totaled over $2000.00 and she still is not ready to return to foster. Without knowing the full history of puppies delivered from transport, Dory’s story is not unique.

HLAR is always looking for dedicated foster families to host animals in their homes. We are working on developing a program that provides student volunteers with school community service credits in exchange for:
