Farm to Firehouse Benefit for Pawling Public Radio

Pawling Public Radio (pawlingpublicradio.org) WPWL, along with local Harlem Valley businesses and residents, will host a four-course farm to table benefit dinner Saturday November 9, beginning with appetizers and wines at 7 p.m.

Aptly named “Farm to Firehouse,” the event will take place at the Pawling Firehouse on South Street and feature local foods and products from the Hudson Valley region. Dinner is served “family style,” and tickets are $90 per person. Tables of eight are available at $650 per table. The evening includes a four-course meal with “chef bites” starting things off. Also included are wine parings with each course.

Celebrity chef Malcolm Mitchell will lead the kitchen team for this night of food and fun. Chef Mitchell was a finalist on Season 8 of the Food Network’s “The Next Food Network Star,” as well as appearing on “Beat Bobby Flay,” and NDTV Celebrity Chef Chinese Competition. He is also a sponsor of U.S. Foods, and a culinary professor at both the college and individual level.

The event will feature products donated by The Annex Florist, The Blue Olive, Brookby Farm, Country Gardeners, Dykeman Farm, Hannaford’s of Pawling, Harlem Valley Homestead, Haviland Hollow Wine, Pawling Bread Company, Sunflour Bakery, Sunny River Beef LLC, and the Tangible Agency.  Chef Mitchell will describe his offerings, our food providers will be given the opportunity to speak about their farms, and wine parings will be explained by John Canevari.

This event for the non-profit station, WPWL, will help us support not only the station, but our local communities and culture, as well as feature The Harlem Valley as a destination for the full-lifecycle of the farm-to-table scene here in the valley.  Background music will be provided by area resident Keith Gurland.
