Putnam Valley Library Hosts Passport Fair Sunday March 29th

The Putnam Valley Library is hosting a no-appointments-needed open house to process applications for passports, on Sunday, March 29th from Noon to 4pm. Applicants from any location are welcome to stop by to get this all-important travel document.

The Library is located at 30 Oscawana Lake Road in Putnam Valley, New York.

Passport Acceptance Agents will be on hand to process applications for new passports and renewals for those passports expired more than ten years ago. Agents will also process passport renewals for children under the age of 16. Although the Library, an official Passport Acceptance Facility, is not authorized to handle renewals for passports that have been expired for fewer than ten years, its agents will be glad to review applicants’ documents to make sure all is ready for mailing. The Library does not do photos.

Passports are not only a key to traveling overseas, but beginning in October, those who have yet to get an Enhanced Driver’s License or REAL ID will need to present a passport to fly in the United States.

Forms are available at the Library, or are available on the State Department’s website, https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html, which also has information about fees and about what patrons need to bring in.

The Library also offers appointments for passports; applicants may email pvpassports@gmail.com.  Appointments may be made evenings and weekends, as well.
