This weekend, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) hosted a reception with participants and judges from the 2022 Congressional Art Competition. At the reception, Rep. Maloney unveiled the grand prize winner, Facebook fan favorite piece, and honored all the students who participated.
“Every year I am blown away by the talent and creativity of our local students. It is a privilege to showcase their work and bring the winning piece back to DC to represent our district in the halls of Congress,” said Rep. Maloney. “Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Congressional Art Competition: the students who shared their work and time with us, the judges who reviewed the pieces, and the parents and teachers who encouraged students to enter.”
The reception was held on Saturday, May 7, at Rep. Maloney’s district office in Newburgh. Footage from the event and photos of all the artwork entered in the competition is available [here] and may be used for publication.
- Since 1982, hundreds of thousands of students from across the country have participated in the competition, sponsored by the Congressional Institute, which encourages Members of Congress to recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents.
- One winning artwork is selected to represent every Congressional District. This year’s winning piece, Two Women Stacking Stones in the Dark, will represent New York’s 18th district and be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. for the upcoming year.

- Gabriel Pages, Local Actor and Illustrator
- Linda Nilon, Business Owner and Community Leader
