Services for Ralph J. Esposito of Mahopac, NY and formerly of Yorktown Heights

Ralph J. Esposito of Mahopac, NY and formerly of Yorktown Heights, NY passed away peacefully on January 5, 2019 with his family by his side. Ralph just celebrated his 98th birthday on January first. He was born at home in the Bronx on January 1, 1921, the son of Michael and Mary (Imperiale) Esposito.

Following High School, Ralph served in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He attended the NY City Police Academy and became a NYPD officer. He served in the Bronx in the 52 Precinct and retired in 1986 after 28 years of service.

Ralph was an active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac where he was a supporter of St. John's Food Pantry, often bringing bags of food to help those in need. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Mooney Council in Mahopac.

Ralph was an avid baseball fan. He tried out for the NY Yankees and the NY Giants but was drafted into the Coast Guard instead. He was an avid golfer and as well a professional golf caddie. He caddied for many of the greats of the day including Jack Nicklaus.

On September 27, 1947 he married Isabell C. Vallejo in Bethlehem, NY. Isabell predeceased him on April 9, 2011. He is survived by his daughters, Sharyn O'Leary and her husband, Thomas of Mahopac and Mary Bentley of Bedford, TX; his brother, John and his wife, Eleanor of Rockland, Co., NY; his sister, Theresa Ragone and her husband, Michael of Warwick, NY; his grandchildren, Thomas (Maria), Andrew (Carolyn), Jonathan (Jessica), Catherine, and Steven (Caroline) and his great granddaughter, Aubrey Isabell.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 10 at 11:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, Mahopac. Interment will take place at a later date at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Port Henry, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ralph may be made to St. John's Food Pantry, 225 East Lake, Blvd., Mahopac, NY 10541.
