The Cultural Arts Coalition hosted an “Improv Your Business” interactive workshop on January 22 at the Studio Around the Corner in Brewster, NY in coordination with Master Networks NY/CT Region.
Instructor Margaret Carey used improvisational theater exercises to help attendees fine-tune business communications skills. The exercises focused on listening skills, the ability to read body language, and to think on your feet with the added benefit of team building.
“The objective of improv exercises is to help business people understand how to use verbal and non-verbal cues to accomplish their goals by successfully navigate the art of interpersonal communication,” explained Margaret. Margaret is not only a board member of the Cultural Arts Coalition but is also the secretary for the Brewster-Carmel Chapter of Master Networks and Editor of multiple HamletHubs in NY and CT.
“Being flexible and adaptable are invaluable skills to address the day to day challenges in the business world,” stated Tina Campbell, Master Networks NY/CT Regional Partner, “The event was not only educational and informative, but everyone had fun and connected with each other on a different level.”
“The Cultural Arts Coalition provides organizations with the opportunity to use our studio for amazing events like this,” explained Judy Marano, President of the Cultural Arts Coalition, “Combining arts, business, and education in one event was a perfect fit for our space.”
