Vietnam Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony

The New York Riders thanked and welcomed home Vietnam Veterans at a Vietnam Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony at the Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park, in Carmel NY on Saturday March 30, 2019. They were joined by veterans and civilians from all over the county. Rolling Thunder NY Chapter, Nam Knights, local VFW's and American Legions along with their very special friends, the veterans from the Putnam County Veterans House in Carmel. NY Rider founder, Cliff Fitzgerald JR., welcomed everyone and started the ceremony by changing his typical NY Rider vest into a Vietnam Veteran vest gifted to him by a very dear friend and Vietnam Veteran that asked Cliff to please wear it in honor of him and all Vietnam Veterans. The speakers of the ceremony were NY Rider- Robert Ferguson, Director of Putnam County Veterans Service Agency- Karl Rohde and Past Commander of the Putnam County Marine Corps League John Duncan. They spoke upon the respect and value we all need to have for and that we owe to our veterans.

Having all these various groups together in one space at the same time allows our community to grow and learn from each other.

Upon the closing everyone was given time to remember, honor, thank and most importantly Welcome Home the Vietnam Veterans. All could depart with a hand shake, a slap on the back, a smile, a hug, a kiss but most importantly a heart full of love and respect for our veteran and each other.
