Saturday June 22, 2019 marked the 22nd anniversary of the death of volunteer Brewster Firefighter, Michael Neuner. The Brewster Fire Department posted the following on June 22, 2019 on their facebook page:
"Twenty one years ago today the Brewster Fire Department lost one of their own. Lt. Michael Neuner died in the line of duty while battling an early morning house fire. Mike was a true public servant, in addition to being a Brewster firefighter he was also a Peekskill police officer. His children carry on Mike's proud legacy of public service. Take time out today to remember Mike or visit the memorial outside fire headquarters on Main St.RIP SATCH!"
Firefighter Neuner's son, Michael, is currently a Deputy with the the Putnam County SHeriff's Office and carrying on the family's tradition of public service.
