Census Bureau Has Tools For Teachers

Bells are ringing and school doors are opening once again. Welcome back!

Are you interested in finding new ways to make data fun and relatable in your classroom? Check out the U.S. Census Bureau’s Statistics in Schools (SIS) program. We have lots of exciting new materials for use in every classroom from pre-K through 12th grade. From our 2020 Census worksheets to our Constitution Day Web page, you’re sure to find resources that will enhance your students’ lessons. Don’t forget to check out our Back to School Fun Facts handout and accompanying teaching guide.

SIS has crafted new materials specifically for the 2020 Census, including:

  • 67 new activities for grades pre-K through 12 that have students use data in interactive ways to build skills in subjects like history, math, geography, and English.
  • Large, colorful maps with fun, census-based facts about the country and its territories, including state-by-state comparisons.
  • A storybook with activities and a music video for children in preschool and early grades.
  • Resources for English language learners and adult English as a second language students.

Many of these items are now available on our Web site and others are on their way to your school. Over the next few months leading up to the 2020 Census, we will update you on events, webinars, and other helpful information to keep your students, parents and community informed.
