Odell and Bartolotti Promote Organ Donation Enrollment

Putnam County employees given extra time at lunch to register as an organ donor.

Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell and County Clerk Michael Bartolotti are working with LiveOnNY to promote Organ Donor Enrollment Day.  On Thursday, Oct. 10th, all Putnam County employees will receive an extra 15 minutes at lunch to register as organ donors. Putnam County employees can visit the registration table in the Putnam County Department of Motor Vehicles in Brewster, which features registration cards as well as information about the power and beauty of organ donation.

Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell and County Clerk Michael Bartolotti will be at the registration table at 11 a.m.

Organ donation is an issue that affects people in Putnam County and beyond. Every 18 hours a New Yorker dies waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant. A contributing factor to this statistic is that there are not enough people registered as organ donors. While 92 percent of New Yorkers support organ donation, and despite having the fourth fastest growing registry in the country, just 30 percent are registered. Powered by LiveOnNY, Organ Donor Enrollment Day urges New Yorkers to make their support for organ donation known and register as an organ donor.

Now in its third year, Organ Donor Enrollment Day has one goal: to enroll as many New Yorkers as possible to be organ donors. The event is led by LiveOnNY.
