Putnam CTC Partners with Carmel Cinema to Bring Awareness of the Dangers of Vaping

Carmel, NY – The Putnam Communities That Care Coalition partnered with the Carmel Cinema on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, National “#Ditch JUUL Day” to advocate for the health and wellness of our community in the wake of the vaping epidemic that is affecting our teens and young adults.

A day after the media announced New York’s first vaping related death of a local 17 year old male, The Putnam Communities that Care Coalition facilitated a vaping awareness event at the Carmel Cinema. Participants received free t-shirts, baseball caps, pet scarves, and other give-a ways while engaging in an educational and interactive campaign, “Animals Against human Testing- #DITCH JUUL Day of Action”. The CTC partnered with Truth .com and POW’R Against Tobacco to bring the event to Carmel Cinema.

Over 100 young people and their caregivers participated in the event, many signing posters to voice their concerns over the marketing of JUUL products to young people and the dangers of vaping
