Week #7: NY fall Foliage Report

In the Hudson Valley, peak foliage will arrive in Columbia County this weekend, according to spotters in Hudson. Look for 85% color change with bright shades of gold and yellow. Peak conditions are expected in Dutchess County around Poughkeepsie, with 75% change and brilliant yellow and orange leaves, along with some touches of red and green. Spotters in Beacon and Fishkill predict near-peak foliage with more than 50% transition and increasing amounts of yellow and red leaves of average brilliance. Throughout Orange County, foliage will be at midpoint of change. Spotters predict 50% change and seasonal colors of average brilliance in Newburgh, and 40% color change and average-to-bright green, yellow, and orange leaves in Goshen. Spotters in Cornwall-on-Hudson are expecting 30% color transition with increasing touches of yellow and red leaves of average brilliance.

Midpoint to near-peak foliage is expected in Westchester County, according to volunteers in White Plains. Visitors can expect up to 60% color change and bright green, red, and yellow leaves. Rockland County foliage is around midpoint of change at Bear Mountain State Park, with about 50% leaf transition. Foliage will also be at midpoint of change in New City, with 50% change and bright green, red, orange, and yellow leaves. Putnam County spotters in Cold Spring report about 15% change and muted golden yellow leaves, along with some touches of red and orange.
