Putnam Chorale 2023 Spring Concert and Retirement Dinner

Spring is right around the corner and so is our April concert. The Putnam Chorale invites you to attend and support The Music of Belief performances in Brewster and Beacon. Classical era composer Josef Haydn composed the St. Bernardi Mass - one of six high masses written late in his career, 1796-1802.  Nearly 60 years later, Romantic era composer Anton Bruckner created his Missa Solemnis, which has seldom been performed in our region. The Putnam Chorale is pleased to premiere Bruckner's work in Putnam County and contrast it with Haydn's earlier work, from which Bruckner borrowed musical themes and structures. The concerts will be held on:

  •         Friday, April 28, 8:00 pm, First United Methodist Church, Brewster, NY
  •         Sunday, April 30, 3:00 pm, St. Joachim Church, Beacon, NY

Experience the joy of a 50-person Chorale, 4 professional soloists, and an orchestra of 20. Tickets are available at the door or at putnamchorale.org/spring2023/.

Please also consider taking an ad or a supporter listing in our printed concert program. You can find the ad form and directions here.

A Landmark Retirement

Music Director Douglas Anderson is retiring after an amazing 22 years with the Putnam Chorale.  Doug is going to be focusing on composing and other endeavors and The Music of Belief will be the last concert under the maestro’s baton.

As a tribute to Doug’s tenure, A Celebratory Dinner will be held on Monday, May 8th, at the Four Brothers restaurant in Mahopac, NY, overlooking beautiful Lake Mahopac at 6pm. This will be your opportunity to thank Doug for his many years of bringing classical choral music to venues in Putnam, Westchester, and Dutchess counties. Tickets for this fundraiser are $60 per person, payable online or via check to the Putnam Chorale and includes a choice of three entrees, appetizer, and dessert. There will be a cash bar. Seating is limited so we encourage you to reserve soon. You can reserve your place by visiting: https://www.putnamchorale.org/spring2023/
