Cast of local students to perform in “Little Shop of Horrors”

Spotlight Arts Inc., a youth theatre company based in Brewster, NY just started rehearsals for “Little Shop of Horrors” and is thrilled to announce its Winter Mainstage cast of local talent who will perform the smash hit musical at the Schoolhouse Theater on January 18th, 19th & 20th.  Written by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, “Little Shop of Horrors” is about a meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn who stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his co-worker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!

The cast consists of talented local students from Putnam and Fairfield counties: Vincent Fontenelli (Skip/Rich Ryder of Skid Row), Robert Fontenelli (Snip/Frankie Beasley of Skid Row) and Rose Giardiello (Eloise Taylor of Skid Row) of Danbury, CT; Amanda Baumgardt (Mrs. Luce), Brooke Ryan (Urchin) and Isabella Sanchez (Audrey) of Carmel, NY; Marissa Duran (Rosemarie Taylor of Skid Row) and Olivia See (Donna Cooper of Skid Row) of Mahopac, NY; Andrew DiFabbio (Mr. Mushnik) and James Hartigan (Orin Scrivello) of Patterson, NY; Gillian Anderson (Mrs. Bernstein), Lucas Bertone (Jonathan Brown of Skid Row) Cynthia Butler (Florence Taylor of Skid Row), Jenn DeSantis (Urchin), Bella DiDio (Urchin), Charlie Fitzpatrick (Audrey II/Urchin), RJ Frankenberry (Seymour Krelborne), Gunnar Gabriel (Bert Taylor of Skid Row), Angela Hupp (Urchin), Izzy Izaguirre (Urchin), Ben Pollak (Patrick Martin), Reese Reich (Isador Walker of Skid Row), Alexandra Schajer (Harriet Howeard of Skid Row), and Autumn Takacs (Kit Baker of Skid Row) of Brewster, NY.

The mainstage students are very excited for the comedic performance and advanced puppeteer experience. Among the show’s company is “Audrey II,” the increasingly large plant that has an appetite for human flesh and is featured in a series of 4 custom-designed puppets operated by actors in the cast to portray the ever-growing blood-thirsty plant throughout the show.

Spotlight Arts mainstage director Eric Leiggi returns to the creative team to direct and choreograph the production. Leiggi will direct alongside assistant director Erik Gosnell of NYC. Richard F. Grasso joins the Spotlight Arts mainstage team as musical director, and the production is produced by Spotlight Arts’ Executive Director Stephanie Rubino, and stage managed by Sarah Daleo.

Spotlight Arts Inc.’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors” will be entertaining audiences at the Schoolhouse Theater on January 18th at 7:00pm, January 19th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm, and January 20th at 2:00pm. Premium VIP seating (first 3 rows) are $25 and standard general admission tickets are $20 when you buy them online in advance before January 14th. Tickets cost $25 at the door if there are any seats left; performances are expected to sell out.
