Rep. Maloney's Response To Norwegian Air Discontinuing Service at Stewart Airport

On Tuesday August 13th, Norwegian Air announced the airline will discontinue service at New York Stewart International Airport, citing the financial losses accrued by the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The following is Representative Sean Patrick Maloney's statement regarding that decision.:

“I’m very concerned what impact the discontinuation of Norwegian Air’s service at Stewart International Airport will have on our local economy.  The issues surrounding the Boeing 737 Max need to be thoroughly resolved, and we need to get these planes safely back in the air before more damage is done to our local airports and airlines. I’m working with the Transportation Committee to get to the bottom of this,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.

Boeing’s 737 Max aircrafts have been grounded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since early spring of this year, following two deadly crashes. The aerospace company has worked to correct a software system failure suspected to have caused in the incidents.

Rep. Maloney serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, as well as the Agriculture Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
